Analysis of mise en scene



The setting is studio based designed as dark tunnel like area. The setting very realistic and makes the scene feel more involving for the audience. The props used is a gun which tells us that the series is obviously aimed at an audience range of 16-25 years because of the violence which may be used with the gun and other props. The characters ages are most likely to be 21-27 years which again appeals to that target range of audiences. Stereotypically the male gender are associated with liking action like films and sequences so this particular drama or scene is aimed at the male audience. However there is a female character within the scene which may appeal to the female audiences making the show gain a wider variety of viewers. The space used on the set is very empty and deserted creating a silent and almost intimating atmosphere and tense and suspenseful mood. The lighting in this sequence is very important. The lighting in the scene is natural which is dark making the mood tense because we do not know if someone or something will come out to shock the viewers which again is why it is aimed at older audiences. The setting is dark because of the mood and feeling of the characters, especially with the gun prop which creates a sinister feeling.The female character is wearing a red shirt which tells us that she is dangerous and could be violent because she possesses the gun. The male character has a dark blue or black shirt which tells the audience his character type and makes him seem more sinister. Both characters are wearing casual clothing which also tells us the age group which is represented and aimed at. The male character has a huge scar on his face which tells the audience he maybe a victim or he is dangerous and has a negative character type which is why the drama is aimed at older viewers.
